Web and Domain

Welcome to the Richest Domain Blog Opening

Let’s Talk Domains and other Stuff!”

Richest Domain is a new site. Is Richest Domain a part of “Social Media”?

Are you on Facebook? What a question. Does anyone even ask that any more? Is there any person that isn’t on Facebook? If so, they must be very old, right? Well, today is your lucky day. Here I am. Despite living in Silicon Valley, you are meeting one. I have been Facebookless my entire life.

Yes, this site is being presented to you by one who has no experience with Facebook. No experience with Twitter, LinkedIn, nor Instagram. Add your favorite social media outlet and I am probably absent. An anti-social media stand-a-loner?

*Per Google, some media types include:

  • Social Networks: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
  • Media Sharing Networks: Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube.
  • Discussion Forums: Reddit, Quora, Digg.
  • Bookmarking & Content Curation Networks: Pinterest, Flipboard.
  • Consumer Review Networks:Yelp, Zomato, TripAdvisor

Social Media’s Place

An anti-social media stand-a-loner? Well, that is not quite correct. Social media has it’s place. So many enticing metaverses wait to steal our lives (err  – enhance our lives).

Social media outlets help us gain confidence to comfortably share – share advice, share our family values, share our being. Media gives us virtual lives beyond the day-to-day of reality. We become the star of this new universe. We find an audience. We see the opportunity to share life’s nitty gritty details. Details that folks, in real life, prefer to push the “opt-out & ignore” button, as they glance away and distance themselves.

In social media, someone will listen. Someone will care. Or so it seems.

Social Media Leaders

I envy creative folks who have the initiative to host – to deliver a message on a topic they discovered. I also admire those who participate – brave beings that are not afraid to speak out, to reveal their feelings, their ideas, and at times, their fears and failures.

Tingle at the Numbers

It must feel awesome for leaders as they see their daily “likes” increase. They watch something they built, grow from day one with a single viewer, to the day when the number turns to the first one thousand and one. Can you imagine the feeling?

Know Your Audience

Do social media leaders have time to think of their audience as live individuals? Do they appreciate the ones that hang on their every word? Do they envision the daily lives of their viewers? Do they wonder what each individual is doing  the moment they close out their session, say “G ‘bye Come back!” and, step away?

Do they wonder where the “watchers” live? Are they alone, with family, or with friends? Are they happy , sad, or indifferent? Did today’s presentation make a difference to at least one? Did their talk change a life? Folks from all walks of life, from nearly anywhere across the globe could be there. Think about it. Think of all the viewers who stopped their individual lives in their tracks to be with you. What a thrill!?

Social Media – Which one?

How, when, and why did you join “social media?”  How did your first social media experience go? Did you stay?

Are YouTube Live Streams “Social Media”?

My life was not total abstinence from social media. This year I became entranced with YouTube. Not yet streaming YouTube videos.  I am not a leader that likes to get up and speak but I would love to try.

What intrigued me, was finding and watching LIVE YouTube streams. And bravely jumping in to find interactions buzzing with enthusiasm as people found they weren’t alone. Others, do indeed do what they do. Like what they do. Feel like they do. They may live in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, where no one shares their interests. But, here, on YouTube Live, someone from the UK can be explaining secrets on topics they’ve longed to hear.

YouTube Live and Chat

YouTube Live means Chat! Chat! Chat! You talk. They listen. You talk. They advise. You Talk. They say “Hello and G ‘bye”! And to my delight, after you talk, some send emoticons! However, be advised. Over time, sometimes you talk and no one listens. Silence. You scroll up and down the chat window. Did I miss it? Did they see my message? Am I invisible? Maybe that was it. The next time may be an hour full of emoticons. Who knows? So, you return to YouTube LIVE.
