What is domain registrar?
(Per Google) A domain registrar – sometimes called a Domain Name Server (DNS) registrar, is a business that sells domain names and handles their registration. Domain names are the main address a website uses to reach a site—they can start with “www” end with an extension, such as “.com”.
GoDaddy is the world’s largest and most trusted domain registrar that empowers people to succeed online. Buying a domain name is easy with their domain name search tool and name generators. You can find the perfect website address for your business.

A good registrar resource is on the website: TLD- List (https://tld-list .com/registrars). The site provides charts of registrars, with a comparison of features and prices. It is a way to find registrars for domains with obscure extensions. (Helpful if searching for hard-to-find 1, 2, and 3-letter domain names).
My current registrars are GoDaddy, Epik, HostGator, NameCheap, and recently, PorkBun for its variety of domain extensions and excellent first-year registration prices.
GoDaddy’s Domain Discount Club
My primary registrar is GoDaddy.
With membership in GoDaddy’s Domain Discount Club (DDC) – (grandfathered in @ $118.99 per year), GoDaddy’s registration prices are pretty good: $9.45 for .com registrations. **Many registrars have initial one-time special offer prices that are only available for the first year on a new registration or transfer, ie., for just one “.COM” domain per customer. After the first year (and years fly by quickly), the rate is often doubled or tripled, after the first enticing price. Yes, you do not own a domain when you register a domain. It is not yours forever – unless, of course, you opt into the “forever” pricing which some registrars offer at exorbitant prices. Domains must be renewed yearly. Thus, it is important to choose wisely which registrar you select. Prior to accepting free domains from hosting companies, be sure to research renewal prices. Although transferring domains later is an option, once your website is going, it is easy to wait too long, and then continue, year after year, paying high renewal prices.
